The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble are Somerville High School's two curricular ensembles. These ensembles are held as classes during the day during BLock 1 and Block 4. Our Symphonic Band is our main ensemble. Whether you are continuing your instrument in high school, switching from another instrument, or completely new to band, Symphonic Band is for. The Wind Ensemble is our top group, comprised of the best musicians in the school. This ensemble is audition only. You must do at least 1 year of SYmphonic Band to join Wind Ensemble.
The band program is open to EVERYONE. Whether you are coming from band, choir, or orchestra, this ensemble is always open to you. We have many band converts, some who hold leadership positions.
